Barbara Buyer Ruiz is a co-founder and lead designer at Metamorefix, an interior decorating firm established in 2004. Metamorefix transforms their clients’ lives with affordable interior design based on the furniture and accessories clients already own.
“Most of us own inherited furniture rich with sentimental meaning, mementoes of special moments, and favorite pieces that we love ‘just because,’” Barbara says. “We begin each design using these very special items, adding whatever the room needs to turn it into a showcase of style and beauty, all within a client’s budget. Metamorefix gives each client that wonderful feeling of ‘Ahh, I’m home’ every time they walk in the door.”
Metamorefix was founded by Barbara and her husband, Tony Ruiz, former flight attendants whose own lives were transformed forever by the tragic events of 9/11. “It turned into a period of real soul-searching, a desire to give back. Interior design seemed like a logical progression. We could turn a career of globe-trotting into something more meaningful that could have lasting results.”
